Luksea updates for you

Luksea first ocean test is a success

UNSW startup Luksea took to Bondi Beach on Saturday for their inaugural ocean test with both hardware and software submerged underwater for the first time. While Luksea founder, Nicole McMahon and Mechatronics Engineer, Thinesh Manisekaran were in sea, the rest of the team braved the elements to receive the clear signal onshore sustained throughout the duration of the swim.

“The successful pilot involved Thinesh and me throwing on some wetsuits while the rest of the team tracked our location signal on shore”, says McMahon. “The team was so excited when the signal stayed stable during our 200-meter swim.”

This test marked major strides with the Luksea proof of concept. With their prototype now in the final stages of development and testing, Luksea has set their sights on user testing and customer interaction.

The team has come a long way since being awarded $25,000 from the NSW Government Minimal Viable Product grant. Read more about that here.

Luksea is a safety alert wearable designed to be your water companion for use in the ocean to communicate your exact location and medical history for identification via a GPS TRACKER with a push of a button. Set your wearable up to connect to a Surf Lifesaving Tower, Emergency services, family or friends. A must-have for swimmers, sailors, surfers, extreme water sports participants, kayakers or anyone wanting to enjoy water activities and feel reassured that they are not alone.
