News for the New Year: By Luksea Founder & CEO Nicole McMahon
At Luksea, our year has started off fast, with future agreements being discussed and trial field testing set to take place within the next 4-6 weeks time. Luksea is very much looking forward to our trial partners feedback as we test the wearable safety device.
Ensuring our community of people who are out there enjoying the environment and embarking on adventures day in and day out, take Luksea on some diverse journeys to test the usability, connectivity and durability of the device.
As the Australian summer is in full swing and the winter sports have arrived in other parts of the globe, Luksea is a perfect buddy to tag along with your fun filled adventures. Lately, there has been a real big spike in outdoor adventure and activities, with people getting more active and trialling different sports.
When it comes to new adventures, as much as you can research these, some sports can be a bit more of a risk until you get used to the equipment and find out what works best for you. These adventures are ones to take along an experienced guide or friend, as well as a communication device to keep you connected in case of separation or if the unexpected occurs.
To provide some perspective, there are some excellent statistics from Australia which show people's participation in water sports. The latest National coastal report from 2019 states that 14.7 millions Australian's visited the coast in 2018-2019. Out of these visitors, 11.1 million took part in coastal activities, with 9.3 million enjoying swimming and wading.
The numbers continue to increase, with a real surge since the covid pandemic, with many more people taking up swimming than ever before. Around 2.9 million people partake in land-based fishing, 2.7 million boating, 1.7 million snorkelling, 1.4 million surfing, 1.1 million water crafting, 1.1 million rock fish and 600,000 scuba diving. In the USA, 75 million swim and frequently visit the water and 2.5 million frequently swim in the UK.
All these activities just for the water adventures alone! How great will is be to have Luksea as a way of checking in with each other out there in a rough swell? Knowing in the back of your mind, that if you require further assistance, Luksea is capable of sending this alert to the right authorities and provide your location for a quicker rescue. Luksea offers personal identification and connects you to an assigned emergency contact, giving you the option to pass on pre existing medical information to your rescuer.
Soon Luksea will be launching our first ever crowd funding campaign and the goal is to get this product out to the global community. Currently, Luksea has some amazing support partners for the device. We are really excited to share more with you as the journey progresses.
Wondering how you can get involved? We would love to have you onboard to test the device. Please indicate your interest by sending us an email so we can invite you to join an upcoming trial. We are keen to trial Luksea in as many different environment and adventures as possible.
We're looking for people to trial Luksea in boating, sailing, fishing, jogging, biking, marine tours, ocean swimming groups, surf lessons, kite surfing, climbing, wake boarding, surfing, marine research field testing, hang gliding, canoeing, canyoning, horse riding, skiing, hire companies who provide water and winter sports equipment and more!
The list of your favourite adventures are endless….The more adventures we can take Luksea on, the more we can showcase how robust this device really is.
Now that we're moving into the next phase, I'm looking forward to providing further updates from our trial partners in the near future as more field tests happen. Thanks again for your ongoing support.
